MySQL 5.0.33 unofficial, dangerous, and not safe for children RPMs

So, considering the amount of noise that was created by MySQL not having binaries available for download at the same time as the “enterprise edition”, I decided to figure out how I could upgrade my development servers to the new version, without affecting my wallet. I checked with MySQL and they said I would need a license for each development server, I’d love to support them, but I can only do so much, I don’t mind paying for the production systems, $600 is peanuts compared to the amount of money I make with MySQL, so .. anyway long story short, I’ve built RPMs of my own, using the 5.0.27 src rpm. If you can read this post, the install is working.. I am testing these RPMs on my development servers, as I have some issues with InnoDB in 5.0.27. The files are available here.
Disclaimer: If you download and install these RPMs and your cat dies, it’s not my fault. Same goes for your dog/fish/iguana/server/data.

It’s cool that you’ve made these files available to other people, but why not use a binary already made available elsewhere? Debian unstable has a deb package available at http://packages.debian.org/unstable/misc/mysql-server-5.0 that can easily be converted to rpm using alien. Just a thought…
3 reasons:
1. I didn’t know about this, I’m not very familiar with debian.
2. I don’t/wouldn’t know how to use alien, or .deb
2. I’m guessing the rpm made from alien would still have debian specific paths, or settings for mysql. The RPMs I’ve made are based on the official binaries MySQL has made available for RHEL 4, so all you’d need to do is an rpm -Uvh, I’m lazy and I didn’t want to learn a different way of doing it :).
I’ll also note that it’s very likely the Debian package is from the MySQL Community source code, not the MySQL Enterprise source code.
vid has compiled the Enterprise version.
Although, vid, did you recompile and put the 5.0.33 versions up? it looks like it, the filenames are 5.0.33, but I want to be sure.
